IT Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, interested in a wide variety of technologies, to join a fantastic team and support our growth. The role will be supporting the IT manager in improving business; efficiency, effectiveness and resilience through the development, implementation and maintenance of IT solutions across all our sites. The role is very broad and will provide varied and interesting challenges with the potential over time to take on your own projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to maximise the use of existing software and databases
  • Take an active role in the scoping, design and development of in-house software applications
  • Provide data analytics and reporting across the business
  • Implementation of 3rd party software and upgrades
  • Deliver training on software and IT systems across the business
  • Assess and mitigate Cybersecurity risks in conjunction with key external contractors
  • Act as a point of contact for third party software support
  • Act as a point of contact for hardware support company
  • Assess and help implement continual improvement of IT functions and processes
  • Support the IT Manager in the creation and delivery of IT budgets
  • Assist in the management of user accounts and provide basic orientation to new users on the usage of computer systems and related software applications
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation of IT support tools, technologies, services, and procedures within the organisation
  • Responding promptly to user calls and emails regarding computer systems and software applications
  • Any other reasonable tasks the role requires

Requirements

  • A relevant university undergraduate degree or other higher-level equivalent qualification
  • Understanding of databases and data structures (MS SQL, MySQL)
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, PHP, VBA or similar
  • Able to work well within a team, actively contributing and supporting team members to achieve shared objectives.
  • Willingness to see through complicated issues to resolution.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and politely with colleagues across our business sites.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritise workloads based on urgency and importance with minimal supervision.
  • A Proactive approach to analyse and resolve technical issues, seeking guidance when needed.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop new skills and knowledge in the fields of IT support and systems development.
